Small community
Acceptable use
A shared framework for invited accounts: fair, secure and human, without any promise of public registration. This is a complete English translation; the German rules remain authoritative if wording differs.
01
Access and accounts
Access is personally invited or approved. An account must not be sold, published, shared publicly or created automatically for others. Credentials and devices must be protected appropriately. Suspicious or compromised accounts may be locked as a precaution.
02
Respectful conduct
Do not threaten, harass or deliberately deceive others, or invade their privacy without consent. Personal boundaries, room rules and moderation decisions must be respected.
03
Prohibited use
In particular, the following are not allowed:
- spam, mass advertising, phishing or impersonation,
- malware, unauthorised access, vulnerability exploitation or bypassing safeguards,
- unlawful material or content that infringes third-party rights,
- automated load, mining or disproportionate resource consumption, and
- use as public registration, an open relay or a commercial mass service.
04
Encryption and recovery
Store the Recovery Key or security phrase safely and separately from the device. CaveTown cannot reconstruct lost end-to-end encryption keys. Before resetting encryption, check whether a verified device or current backup is still available.
05
Federation and external rooms
Federated rooms also follow the rules and moderation decisions of participating communities. Content can be sent to external servers. Deletion or suspension at CaveTown cannot reliably remove copies already federated elsewhere.
06
Operation, limits and availability
The service is privately operated without a paid availability commitment. Maintenance, security measures, capacity limits and technical failures may restrict access. Large or persistently resource-intensive use should be agreed in advance.
07
Moderation and account termination
An account may be restricted immediately for security risks or serious violations. Otherwise, contact will be attempted first where practical. Users may request account termination at any time; legal, federated and technical limits on deletion still apply.
08
Abuse and security reports
Report abuse, account loss or security issues to support@cavetown.de. Technical vulnerabilities should follow the security-reporting policy and must not be published in public rooms.
09
Version and changes
Last updated: 9 August 2026. Material changes will be communicated to affected accounts by a suitable method. These rules are a community framework, not a public registration offer. The German rules remain authoritative if this translation differs.
